How Do You Write a 5 Paragraph Academic Essay

Writing various types of academic papers will be a necessary part of your education. A 5 paragraph academic essay does not have some specific features. It’s like any other kind of composition with just a set number of paragraphs in it. Every student can write it excellently knowing how to organize the work.

The Structure of a 5 Paragraph Academic Essay

The structure of a 5 paragraph essay will consist of three parts: an introductory paragraph, three body paragraphs, and a concluding paragraph.

1. The introductory paragraph.

Present the topic or thesis statement and briefly tell what the paper is about. Your introduction must attract a reader’s attention. Organize the last sentence in such a way it could smoothly take a reader to the main body of your paper. In other words, you need a transitional hook.

2. The first body paragraph.

Show here the beginning point and the strongest argument of your composition. Give evidence and examples which prove your point of view. At the end of this paragraph use a transitional hook to connect your story with the next paragraph.

3. The second body paragraph.

Continue with the second strong argument and supporting ideas of the issue you discuss. Here the first sentence must be connected with the last one from previous section of your paper.

4. The third body paragraph.

Open the weakest argument of the work to the reader. In this part of the story you should return to the topic and reveal the main point of your writing work.

5. The concluding paragraph.

Summarize your three main body paragraphs and explain how they support your point of view and conclusions. The last part of your writing paper should convince the reader your findings are correct and logical.
